How to relax in a busy world like ours.

If there is one word that I could describe or world with it would be busy. 
When you ask someone how they are doing, the most common answer is: Good, busy. And maybe it is just me, but always being busy doesn’t seem very good to me. Where is your relaxation, selfcare or time with friends and family?

I must say, I have busy times too, everyone does. But that’s why it is so important to make sure you make time for yourself. 30 minutes per day is enough. Read a book, take a walk or practice mindfulness. Everything if fine as long as it gives rest to your mind. I like to do some mindfulness or take a walk in the park. But what works the best for me is reading magazines. Think of Vogue, Elle, Harpers Bazaar, Glamour, etc. All the clothing, articles and pretty pictures gives me a feeling of exclusivity and rest. It all looks so good that it gives rest to my mind. But why is this so important? If you feel stressed or tensed for too long your brain will stop functioning well. You will start forgetting things and maybe even experience negative thoughts. You will feel tired and you’re sleep will deteriorate. And you don’t want that to happen. On the other side, what are the benefits of 30 minutes relaxation per day? Well, let’s start with saying that it will increase your health in any way. You will feel better, have more energy and you will be more productive. And that is what we want, right?!

One more thing I would like to talk about with you is sleep. Because not a lot of things are more important than a good night of sleep. We need our sleep to give our mind and body rest so they can recover. It is true that some of us need more sleep than others (Guilty!) but everyone needs at least 6 hours sleep per night, but advised is 7 to 8 hours sleep per night. Do you have trouble falling asleep ? which leads to not enough rest. Try one of the following tips:

  1. Don’t use your phone after 9 pm. We all know the effect of the light from your screen and I can tell you that this does work me. I try not to use my phone after 9pm and it does help me falling asleep much faster!
  2. Do a quick mindfulness session before going to bed. 
  3.  Read 5 to 10 minutes in your book.
  4. Keep track of a daily (gratitude) journal
